KENDRA SCOTT EVENT – 11/19
This Monday, 11/19, Kendra Scott at Baybrook Mall is hosting a “Gives Back” event for FHS Cheer.
We urgently need 2-3 Cheerleaders and a parent to volunteer to be present at the store from 6:00-8:00 PM to represent FHS Cheer. (I apologize for not passing on this info sooner!). Please tell your families and promote this event through social media – image attached for social media. Last time we did the Kendra Scott event, we made $650. Proceeds from this event will go directly to our NCA Nationals costs and will be reflected on your December Bill. If you can volunteer, please let me know by text at 281-543-8216.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Everyone must turn in a minimum of 9 hours of community service before the Winter Break (an additional 9 hours will be due in May. You may turn in all 18 hours or as many as you have in December. All community service hours sheets should be turned in to of your Squad’s Captains. Once all sheets are in, Captains are responsible for submitting the sheets to their Coach. We a have a few service hours opportunities left for this semester:
- 12/1 BIG LOVE SANTA DASH: MANDATORY for all cheerleaders (4 hours): Everyone should arrive at 7:00am at 11200 Pearland Towne Center. The Cheerleaders are not walking/running. We will helping with the race and handing out awards and medals. We should be done by 11:00AM. Please wear a Santa Hat – info about if we are wearing uniforms or something else will come later.
- 12/2 FISD ALUMNI FASHION SHOW (3-4 hours): Need 8-10 Varsity Cheerleaders (you will be doing the Fight Song). Since some of the seniors are in the fashion show, we need most of the juniors to volunteer. | SIGN UP HERE |
INVOICES – UNPAID & UPCOMING
We still have several accounts with past due balances from the October Invoice. If you haven’t paid, please pay immediately – you can pay online or put a check in the box at the cheer shack. If you are unsure if you’re paid or if you need special payment arrangements – contact Jackie Gibson (281-433-3333 or jackie-gibson@comcast.net ). December invoices will be going out in the next few weeks. It’s the last big invoice and includes NCA hotel, transportation, competitions fees, meals, etc). | PAY ONLINE HERE | All accounts must be current in order to compete at UIL and NCA.
TOY DRIVE DONATIONS
As part of the 12/8 competition, ACP is doing a Toy Drive. We are asking each cheerleader to donate 1 new, unwrapped toy and bring it to the Cheer Shack. Please label it with your name and drop at Cheer Shack by 12/6 – each person that donates a toy gets 1 hour community service. See statement below from ACP:
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and American Cheer Power wants you to help us spread the holiday spirit to those families who are less fortunate. We have teamed up with the Bay Area Turning Point this year to help bring the magic of Christmas to everyone in need. Just bring new, unwrapped gifts to the Registration table with your gym name on it. Last year we had an amazing turn out and we are hoping to do it again
We will get the gifts labeled with “FHS Cheer” and will make sure they are delivered at Registration.
ACP CHRISTMAS OPEN at NRG – 12/8
Our first competition is 12/8 at NRG. The cheerleaders will take a bus to and from the competition. We are competing in the morning and will load the bus from the Cheer Shack at 6:30-6:45 AM – awards are at 12:20 and the bus should be back to Cheer Shack by 1:30-2:00. We are competing in 5 divisions: Freshman/JV Novice (Black), High School Novice (White), and the 3 Game Day Divisions (Fight Song, Band Chant, Timeout Cheer). We will send out detailed information with competition times, what to wear, etc as soon as it is available. There will be a “Parent Spirit Challenge” at the competition that we will send more info about.
TEAM CHRISTMAS PARTY – 12/14
The team Christmas Party will be during 7th period on Friday, December 14. More info and details about any gift exchange will come from the Captains. Stay Tuned.
SAVE THE DATE – MOTHER/DAUGHTER TEA – 12/16
Charlotte & Lily Hall have graciously agreed to host our Annual Mother/Daughter Tea at her home on Sunday, December 16, 2:00-4:00. Invitations will go out soon. The cost of the event is being donated by Charlotte Hall and will be covered by the UIL Party Fee you already paid.
VARSITY CUSTOM CHEER SHOES PROBLEMS
We know several of you have had problems with our FHS cheer shoes. If you have holes or other problems, please take a picture and send to me ASAP (text to 281-543-8216 with your name). We are working with our Varsity Rep and the manufacturer on a solution.
SALATA GIVES BACK
Salata, at Baybrook, is giving us a portion of their proceeds when you mention FHS Cheer. If you are there, make sure you mention us.

Reminder that the following practices are mandatory and have been on the calendar since April. Start/End times and locations are subject to change.

UIL STATE & NCA NATIONALS
Not a lot of NEW info available yet, here’s what we know:
- UIL State Championships – Ft. Worth 1/17 – 1/19: Cheerleaders will leave Thursday 1/17 by Charter Bus, will compete Friday and Saturday. Cheerleaders will ride bus home from Competition Saturday evening. The teach will stay at Courtyard Ft. Worth Downtown/Blackstone| Hotel Reservations/Connections Housing for UIL | UIL Video
- NCA Nationals – Dallas 1/24-1/27: Cheerleaders will leave Thursday 1/24 by Charter Bus, will practice Friday and have team dinners, will compete Saturday & Sunday. No bus for return trip (ride home with parents/friends on Sunday Evening). Team is staying at The Lorenzo Hotel. Many of you have started planning summer vacations and have asked about cheer camp dates for next summer – we will pass on this info as soon as we have dates.
